I’m entering my second week of training for my Faster 5 Km goal! My first week of training went very well so far!
I’m also onto my third cold since February! It seems like I get well for a few days and I catch something else. This time it’s just a minor sinus cold! It hasn’t impeded my running at all.
The weather has greatly improved lately, the snow is melting, and it’s almost gone! That means that I have finally returned to running outdoors since the sidewalks are finally clear.
Another thing I’m enjoying is that I don’t have to bundle up with excess layers of clothes, or wear gloves or a hat. Yet it’s still cool and I enjoy running in this type of weather.
I also took a quick trip up North to Sudbury this weekend to spend some time with my family. My twin sister and I got to enjoy a run together. I usually don’t have a running partner so this was a special treat for me!
I’m following the training plan from the Adidas miCoach iPhone app. I stuck the plan very well this week. Here is what I actually did:
Tuesday – 30 25 min easy run at the indoor track during lunch. I forgot to charge my iPhone, so I ran the old fashion way; without music or coaching.
Thursday– 39 min interval training outdoors during lunch.
Just to recap the zones:
Blue zone: Easy pace, good for warm-ups & cool downs
Green Zone: Medium Pace, my regular running pace
Yellow Zone: Difficult Pace, used to improve your cardio strength
Red Zone: Maximum Effort , about 90% of your sprint pace
Sunday 50 min progressive run with my twin sister Julie! We ended up running almost 8 km!

Here is what I’m anticipating to do this week:
Tuesday – 45 min interval training
Thursday– 30 min interval training
Saturday or Sunday 30 min interval training
I know that I’m feeling “spring fever” right now. I’m itching to wear sandals (but it’s not warm enough here for that yet) and I feel like at weight has been lifted. How have you been enjoying the great weather lately?
