Something I never get to post about on my other blog, www.runmommyrun.ca is my art since it doesn’t really fit in the context of a blog about running. So, today, I would like to share some of my acrylic paintings.
I started painting only a few years ago. It something I always wanted to do. I was encouraged by my husband (boyfriend at the time) to follow this dream. He suggested an art teacher that his mother, who is an excellent water colourist, studied with. So, I decided to take some introductory painting classes. I mostly do acrylics, but I have dabbled in other mediums, such as water colours since.
The first painting in this post I chose to include because of the orange and brown fall colours. I love this painting because of love birch trees and I love the rich fall colours we have her in Ontario due to our wonderful maples. The painting of the yellow roses below was inspired by a photograph that I took while on my honeymoon over 2 years ago. It is one of my favorite paintings.
The following two paintings are a series of paintings I did one in class (The Pine Tree) and one on my own. I was exploring with a different style of painting with acrylics for these ones. The pine tree was painted from a photograph I took while hiking in Killarney Provincial Park. Killarney was the subject of some paintings from the Group of Seven! The Birch Tree painting was painted on my own to further explore this style of painting.
