Hello friends, on June 10, I’m joining 15 other co-workers for the Grapes of Wrath Niagara Obstacle & Mud Run benefiting the Canadian Cancer Society.
Grapes of Wrath Niagara
I’ve known about the Grapes of Wrath Niagara Charity Mud run for several years and have wanted to try it. This year, with the encouragement of some staff at work, I decided to create a team of co-workers. I thought it would be a fun team-building event.
To my surprise, 16 members have signed up! Looks like there are quite of few co-workers with an adventurous spirit that I didn’t know about. That, or they don’t know what they signed up for. Here is a sneak peek, but shhhh, don’t tell them, just incase!
Secret to raising lots of money
I originally set $2000 as our fundraising goal as a team. In the last few weeks, we’ve bumped up our goal every few days as we keep surpassing our goals. Our goal is currently set at $6000.
So, what’s the secret to raising funds so quickly? Well, we have a star member who raised almost $5000 himself. Intrigued by his success I ask him his secret. Here is his secret, and it’s super simple:
Don’t be afraid to ask.
Here is how he did it, he sent out an email soliciting funds to 1200 of his contacts. That’s it! A simple email. Now, following his example, I’ve done the same (but I don’t have 1200 contacts on my list). I’ve reached out to family and friends and other contacts by email. But I thought I’d turn to my readers at Run Mommy Run and ask, will you sponsor me?
The event supports the Canadian Cancer Society’s local Wheels of Hope transportation program that helps cancer patients get to their life-saving cancer treatment appointments. Niagara’s volunteer drivers logged over 1 million kilometers last year, helping more than 900 local cancer patients.Sponsor me for The Grapes of Wrath Niagara benefiting the Canadian Cancer Society. #grapesofwrathniagara #cancersucks #mudlove #cancer Click To Tweet
Thank you for your time! And a big thank you to all those who sponsored me individually or my team!
