It’s only the end of May here in Ontario, but the summer heat is already here. I had to cut my run after 20 minutes because I was not ready for the heat and humidity. If I were to replay that day, here are the 4 running items I would bring with me to make my lunchtime run more successful.
It’s important to stay hydrated! A hydration belt such as the one featured on the left is a good idea to have because you can just reach over and grab a drink. I own the Nike Lean Fuel Belt and I really love it! Check out my review of it here.
I suffer from migraines. The sun has on occasion triggered a migraine so it’s important for me to wear some sunnies. Read about my scary experience and how to deal with a migraine while running. I usually buy several pairs of inexpensive glasses because I tend to misplace them often.
Hat or Viser
On my lunchtime runs (RUNCH as I like to call it) I run on a track in an open field with little shade. Alternatively, to wearing sunglasses, you might want to wear a hat or a sun visor to keep the sun out of your eyes.
You can’t forget the sunscreen. For a while, I avoided sunscreens since I had developed an itchy reaction to chemicals in sunscreen. I have since discovered that I’m OK with mineral sunscreen. Since I’m very likely to burn, I slather the stuff on. You can read my review on Green Screen.
Now you have my list of essentials for summer running. Hopefully, I can be more ready and practice safe running! What’s on your list of summer essentials for running?
