Hello! I have some exciting news. He is finally here! This running mom is now mom to two boys. Alex was born mid February. I’m now off of work for a year and back to blogging and I’m starting with a #MotivateMe Monday post. Today’s post is about baby, body and beyond!
Oh Baby Baby!
I know that I’ve been relatively quiet on the blog for several months. Growing a baby has been exhausting work. Pregnancy had me more exhausted than let’s say a triathlon or even a half marathon! But, now that Alex is born, I’m starting to feel like my old energetic self again!
My little munchkin has been a pretty easy baby so far, but like all parents of newborns, I’m sleep deprived! He is so worth it though. Since I know he is my last baby, I’m trying to slow things down to enjoy every moment of my year off from work with my baby!
Confession time: I was actually 6 week pregnant at the time I took the photo above as part of my review of Pommello Sweats. I’m looking forward to looking like that again!
Recovery from giving birth has been miraculously quick this time around. I can honestly say that I feel fantastic and I’m looking forward to working out again. But first I must allow myself 6 weeks of recovery time.
My first challenge will be to get my body back! I gained 25 lbs during my pregnancy. In the first two weeks, I’ve already lost 14, with only 11 lbs to go. I’ve been keeping track of my weight, % body fat and BMI with the help of my new Aria 2 digital scale by Fitbit (review coming soon)!
My weight loss trick has been simply breastfeeding. I have a feeling that the last 10 lbs will more of a challenge to shed however. Follow along week to week to see my progress.
To Infinity and Beyond!
My short-term vision is to get myself through the next 4 weeks before I’m cleared by my Doctor to start working out again. But what’s does life hold for me after the 4 weeks? Well, if you read my January post, you’ll know that my Word for 2018 is Action, and that I have a few things planned.
My long-term vision includes training and competing in my second triathlon, Iron Girl Grimsby 2018, and another half marathon later this summer or fall. But, I’m not yet how I will handle juggling training with an infant. Time will tell!
And finally, as I usually do on my MotivateMe Monday post, I’m sharing my weekly workout plan. I’m going to start back slow this week, so my plan this week is simple. I want to:
- start walking again, and track my step count
- start some light yoga type stretches
