Can you believe we are three weeks into December? I sure can’t. Christmas is just around the corner. Yay! As we are approaching Christmas, making time for yourself for some exercise can be come more challenging. I think its been a busy week for all 4 of these running mommas. Let’s see how all 4 Challengers have done this week!
Challenger 1: Julie Chartrand
Julie got in a 10 km run (1 hour and 20 minutes), one Nike Training Club Workout (45 minutes) and one 20 minute walk with her dog. That’s a total of 2 hours and 25 minutes. Last December, she didn’t go running once the whole month of December, I consider all this exercise a direct result of this December Challenge. Have you read about Julie’s New Years Resolution for 2014 that turned into a healthy lifestyle? Read her inspiring story here. Way to go Julie!
Challenger 2: Cindy Fowler
I loved what Cindy had to say about the Challenge this week and couldn’t say it any better so I will quote her directly.
Initially I thought, geez, I feel so embarrassed and shame to say that I have only complete 2 – 30 min Nike training workout. Then I started thinking, REALLY, with what I accomplished (for my family) this week I managed to do 2- 30 min workout. It’s not what I didn’t do it’s what I did do. This week will also be one of the busiest weeks of this challenge. Now if I can manage to get 2 workouts in this week, I can easily without any difficulties increase my physical activities in the new year setting myself a new goal.!!! Have a great week, merry Christmas to all.
Challenger 3: Nancy Cote
Nancy has a very active lifestyle. She had her regular walk in to work and back to her car Monday through Friday (20 min round trip). She also got in 2 x 1 hour Gym sessions this week (30 min elliptical, 30 min weights). On Sunday (today), she had a 60 min walk in the woods at home (hard work to walk in fluffy snow) and a 40 min walk with a hockey mom while their kids were getting dressed to get on the ice. Nancy’s activity totaled to 5 hours and 20 minutes this week.
Challenger 4: Lucie Palka
Despite the fact that I was sick for 2 days with a stomach bug, I think I did fairly well. This week, I walked the dog for a total of 3 hours. I also did 1 P90X3 workout called The Challenger; that was 30 minutes of pull-ups and push ups (ouch). And today, I have recovered enough from my stomach bug that I had enough energy to run a 5 km (30 min) for a total of 4 hours of exercise.
Well, I think we are doing very well with the Get Up and Go Challenge so far. This challenge is effective in encouraging us to be more active in a time of year when it would be easier to just say “Not today… maybe tomorrow”.
I think that Julie, Cindy and Nancy join me in wishing everyone one a very Merry Christmas.
