I am very excited that Julie and I have recruited two other challengers to help keep us motivated for the month of December. As all four of us are running mammas, I am sure we will be coming up with very creative ideas to manage our time in order to fit in those workouts and runs.

Meet Julie Chartrand
First off, we have my initial challenger Julie Chartrand. She has been featured on my blog many times as she is my identical twin sister. She is a mother of 2 boys who both play hockey in winter and lacrosse in the summer. Julie works full time, yet she still manages time to put in several workouts or runs a week.
Julie ran in a 10 km race this year, the Run for the Grapes 5 km race as well as the Miner’s Mayhem 5 km Obstacle Race. This running momma inspires me to do better all the time.

Look at those pipes! |
Meet Cindy Fowler
Cindy went to high school with Julie and I. We ran together on the Cross Country team and the Track & Field team. Cindy is a mom of 3 children 1 girl (11) and 2 boys (10 and 8). After work, she is busy with brining her kids to swimming, hockey or dance lessons. She says that she’s very busy, but she makes the time to stay active for her own well being.
Cindy ran 5 half marathons since 2010, one 10 km race and many 5 km races. Her two oldest kids and her husband have also participated in some 5 km races with her. Her youngest has also participated in a 1 km race. Cindy says “My family are my biggest fans when I run and I’m their biggest fan when they run and do their sports”
Wow, I can sure learn some tips from this impressive lady! She’s very inspiring.
Meet Nancy Cote
Competitor No. 3 is a good friend of ours since high school also. I have some great memories of us running relay races together in Track and Field. Nancy was a top athlete in high school and she has never slowed down since.
Nancy is a physio therapist with 3 kids (2 boys and 1 girl ) who are all on travel hockey teams, which means that they spend a lot of weekends away travelling to tournaments (Yikes). Nancy ran in the Miner’s Mayhem, a 5 km obstacle race, along with Julie and Cindy back in June of this year. She also participated in a similar 5 km obstacle race in Ottawa this year, called the Spartan. If she finds the time to workout then I’m sure I can find the time to as well.
And me, Lucie
Last, but not least is me, Lucie, full-time working mom of one boy. I am very close to finishing the online course that has been taking much of my free time, so I sure hope to be putting more workouts and runs in my weekly routine to keep up with these ladies.
I feel like such a rookie, as a mom and as an athlete beside these amazing women. This year I ran a 5 km Obstacle Race (Mudd, Sweat and Tears) and the Run For the Grapes 5 Km race. I’m hoping to do more next year.
What I am hoping to accomplish by doing this challenge is:
3. Put into practice my strategies to keep motivated (click hear to read my strategies)
Tune in at the end of next week to see how we are doing with this challenge. So, I leave you with this …
Run, Mommy, Run!
Awesome post. Looking forward to this challenge. The results from this week will be a surprise because no one really knows how much effort the others will put in. But I will try to out do you all! If I don’t quit make it on top this week, I will certainly try to out do you all next week.
Julie
*quite…I wrote quit… But meant quite…
Julie
And this is why my sister motivates and inspires me to do better. She’s competitive and already plans to out do everyone! Good luck Ju, but there is great competition!
That’s awesome that you’ve had two more join the challenge! Maybe you could make it an annual event. I would love to join in next year. I just have too many irons in the fire at the moment, but I think I might have a little more time then to keep track of everything.
Myra, we will see how this challenge goes as it is my first of this kind. If it’s successful, I might do another one!
I have tried to challenge myself to cultivate a healthier lifestyle. In the past year I have a lost over 25 lbs by changing my eating habits, but I’m still horrible when it comes to exercise. I can not get motivated to break a sweat. Any tips for a novice who has never ever exercised or participated in a sport?
That is a great question Toya. That is possible the subject of an entier post! Inwill attempt to answer your question soon.
