What’s in a sock?
I decided to review these socks because Rockay is doing something quite unique which really grabbed my attention. First, they are running socks, made by runners. And even more interesting, Rockay not only uses recycled plastic as a source of their polyester but have specifically sourced polyester created from ocean plastic. That means 1 pair of Accelerate Running Socks, the very same one that I’m reviewing, will remove the equivalent of 2 plastic bottles from the ocean. It’s Win/Win!
While I’m on the topic, Accelerate Running socks are composed of:
- 66% Polyamide
- 30% Organic Merino Wool
- 4% Elastane
I can tell that these socks are created for runners by runners. Rockay has put a lot of thoughts in these socks. The merino wool in the blend makes them super soft and comfortable. They are designed to be tight at the top to keep them from slipping. They have mesh to allow the feet to breathe. The heels are padded to add comfort and prevent blisters to form. They are also fitted arch for support and blood circulation.
So I took my Accelerate Running socks on a few 5 km test runs. Just note that my review is based on shorter distances, I haven’t been up to extending my mileage beyond 5 Km since having my baby.
I’m happy to say that my Accelerate Running Socks did not slip, they held on quite tight, they did not create any blisters and I found them to be comfortable. They run at approximately $15 a pair and for a pair of highly technical socks I think it’s a fair price.
For all the running socks I own, these Rockay Accelerate socks are among the most comfortable and seem to be very high in quality. Hopefully, they last for years, but just in case they don’t, Rocky offers a lifetime guarantee on all their socks. You can return them for a new pair, no conditions, no questions asked.
You know what? Christmas is coming up. These would make a great stocking stuffer for that special runner in your life (even if that’s you!) Check out Rockay’s store or find them on Amazon (not an affiliate link) and pick yourself up a pair!
