June 1 is Global Running Day. To celebrate, I’m joining Kristen from www.jonesinforarun.com in her Global Running Day linkup.
Why do you run?
I started running in elementary school (you can read my story about How I got started running). I guess the first reason is that I love to compete, and when I was young, I was good at sprinting. As I got older, I got exposed to long distance running. Now I love running for many other reasons; time for myself, time to think, and I love the way it’s transforming my body. I also love pushing myself further that I thought I possible.
How do you plan to celebrate National Running Day?
Unfortunately it might be a busy day on June 1, I’m probably going to be running after my 3 year old at his soccer practice.
How many miles have you run so far this year? Do you have a mileage goal for the year?
To be honest, I have to idea how many I’ve done this year so far. I obviously don’t have any mileage goals!
What big events do you have on the race calendar so far this year?
This year, I have two special events on my race calendar; my first half marathon (Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon), which is June 5th, and my first triathlon, Grimsby Iron Girl, which will be on August 7.
Before I leave for a run I must have:
Hat, Sunglasses, my iPhone and my Garmin Vivoactive watch.
Do you track your runs? If so what do you use?
I collect my stats using my Garmin Vivoactive watch, I record my races on my running log (free download available)
Who is your favorite running partner?
I usually run alone. If my twin sister and I are visiting, she is my very favorite running partner. Sometimes, my furry friend, Charlie.
What races have you run so far this year?
I’ve had more races this year then I have combined previous years I think.
If you have to give someone one piece of advice about running, what would it be?
Don’t give up, it gets easier the more you do it.
