It’s still Monday so I’m not too late with my Motivate Me Monday post! If you were hoping to link up, you still can! The link-up is open till next Sunday. I apologize for the delay, but here in Ontario, we have a great holiday today – Family Day!
For the last 2 years, I was participating in the Family Day 10 km in Grimsby. This year, I opted out since I haven’t been training for it, however, with the amazing weather we are having here in Niagara, I’m really sorry I didn’t. For the last few years it was -20 c weather for this race! This year, we are having +13 C weather! What? In fact, we hardly had a winter at all in Niagara! Signs of spring are already everywhere.
What do you do on family day?
The short answer is that you take this opportunity to spend time with your loved ones. I took my son on a little nature walk this morning, and as all 3-year-olds do, he was asking a lot of questions about his environment. I was thrilled to talk nature with my son and discover the beauty of spring together. I showed him the buds on the trees and explained how they would become leaves in a few weeks. I pointed to the geese swimming in the river and explained that soon we will see little goslings swimming about.
Skating rinks across the region offer free skating! We took advantage of this offer and my husband and I took our son skating.
Family day is one of my most favorite work holidays. It comes in the middle of February, a time that can be quite depressing for many. Luckily this year, with the unseasonably warm weather, Family Day has been even more enjoyable.

I’ll admit that I didn’t do well at following my plan last week, but with the warmer weather forecasted this week, I’m hoping to find inspiration. Here is my plan for this week:
Monday: Family Day – skating, hiking, walking the dog
Wednesday: 5 km run at lunch
Thursday: Upper Body Fix
Sunday: 5 km run
