I’m sick, should I still be running?
When it comes to answering the questions below, I still follow the advice below:
My rule of thumb is: exercise if you don’t have a fever, rest if you have a fever.
To back up my philosophy, I did a quick Google search and came up with the following:
Precision Nutrition suggests that a jogging is OK when sick, while endurance work is not recommended. They also suggest that moderate intensity exercise boosts your immune system.
So armed with this information, I made my decision. I started my cold and suspected a mild fever, so I skipped my workouts. This week, my nose is still stuffed up, but I will probably workout out anyway. I will modify, or do yoga instead.
For all my runner friends out there, do you push through with your training when you are sick? Do you have any remedies you use to speed up the process? Personally I’m a “let nature take its course” kind of gal!
