It’s been 5 weeks since I’ve had my baby, and like the title suggest, I’m living in leggings as I’m slowly shedding the baby weights and aspiring to fit in my regular clothes again.
I find it difficult not to be obsessing over my weight. Any new moms out there that can relate? The fact that I only have one good pair of jeans that currently fits is part of the problem, but I also think that my really awesome digital smart scale, Aria 2, helps to fuel the fire (just a bit).
Even though my 1 month old wakes up several time a night for feedings, I feel like I’m getting enough sleep. After having no energy for my entire 9 months of pregnancy, it feels so refreshing to feel like my usual active self again. I’m itching to get back to running and training for Iron Girl 2018. Here is how I’ve been slowly easing myself back to life.
I haven’t yet been cleared by my doctor to resume my regular workouts but that doesn’t mean that I’ve sat on the couch watching TV all day.
I’ve been slowly re-initiating myself to flow and movement with one of Beachbody’s newest programs “3 Week Yoga Retreat”. It’s a beginner program, but what better way to get back into an active lifestyle than starting from the beginning. This Yoga Retreat helps me reduce stress, find balance, increase flexibility and build strength.
The first week was instructional, this week, the second week, builds on the movements we learn from last week. I haven’t been pushing hard, I’ve used some of the modified poses. After not moving much in the last few months, I really feel the stretch since my body it is very tight.
Besides yoga, I’ve added some steps to my day. Whether it’s enjoying a leisurely walk with my baby in the stroller, walking to pick up my oldest son from school, or taking m dog on a walk, I’ve slowly been increase my step count. I’m hoping that my Dr. gives me the OK to start running again this week.
21 Day Fix
Hoping to resume an active lifestyle this week, I want to start building more strength and healthier eating habits with the 21 Day Fix, another Beachbody program that I loved. You can read my review of the 21 Day Fix to find out more about this program.
As much as I love my stretchy pants, I don’t want to be living in leggings forever, and I believe this 3 week program will help me shed the extra 10 lbs that I’m now carrying. Follow along on the next 3 Mondays to check in and see how I’m doing.
