Some make resolutions, others make intentions. Call it what you want, I make annual goals!
I’m a goal oriented person, therefore I review and create goals every year. For some, they don’t work out, but for me and my twin sister, it’s a great strategy that works. You can read Julie’s post about “Resolutions Gone Right“, or you can review my 2015 goals and how I did in my ” 2015 year end review” and you’ll see what I mean.
Also, 2016 is the year Julie and I turn 40. That’s right! 40! Seriously, I feel like I’m trapped in a 28 year old’s body. Even I have a hard time believing I’ve been around this long. However, my birth certificate says 1976, and I remember the 80’s so it must be true! In the spirit of this milestone birthday, Julie and I have plotted a fun way to celebrate it.
Goals for 2016
I set and achieved 7 goals last year. This year, I’m only setting 2. They might only 2 goals, but they are lofty goals and achieving them will need lots of hard work. And now for the important part, drum roll please… my goals for 2016 are:
Run my first 1/2 marathon
Compete in my first Triathlon
There you go, they have now been revealed publicly! I am so excited about these two goals. Although there are only 2 main goals, they contain many unnamed sub goals. For example, I learned to swim in September, so I need to work on my swimming speed and endurance. I also need to start biking, which might be a challenge since I don’t have a good bike to work with. But those are just hurdles, they won’t stop me! I also need to learn how to do transitions so I’m looking at a Try a Tri.
The triathlon, which will be in early August, will be how Julie and I celebrate our 40th birthday together! I think, what a fun way to welcome a new decade!
So, there you have it, those are my goals. Do you make resolutions, intentions or goals for the new year?
