I first heard of the#PaintSeptember movement on Twitter from my good blogging friend Myra over at Winterthorne. The Paint September artistic challenge is designed to encourage your to take some time to paint in September and share your work of art on Twitter using hashtag #paintsemptember. Now I can’t produce a painting a day, I did one this month so far. Perhaps I can be inspired to try another one.
To be honest, since my son was born 2 years ago, I haven’t had much time to paint. My blog has really been my creative outlet this last year. Now that the busy summer is out of the way, and my son can play independently a little more, I find myself having a bit more time. Also, I’m feeling quite inspired this fall.
The painting is of Balls Falls. Balls Falls is on a Niagara Peninsula Conservation Area. It’s a place I often visit. In fact, my husband and I had our Engagement Photos taken at Balls Falls 4 years ago because the great fall colours offered an amazing backdrop.
I used acrylic paints. The brand I’m currently using Grumbacher Academy Acrylic paints. I only use 6 different colours to create my paintings. I love the challenge of mixing my own colours. In this painting I used:
- Titanium White
- Cerulean Blue
- Lemon Yellow
- Ultramarine Blue
- Cadmium Red Medium
- Ivory Black
