Yes I’m still training for my second 10 km race of the year, the Peachbud. It’s coming up in just 1 week and I’m getting excited/nervous. I haven’t raced since May. I was disappointing that the Niagara Falls Color Run was cancelled. I would have ran the fun race on Father’s day! Hopefully they reschedule it for later this year!
The Peachbud 10 km is an evening race, and that will be a first for me! I’m a morning person so it will be interesting to see what kind of energy I have left at 7:00 in the evening. I think I will definitely be buying some Honey Stinger Organic Chews. I’ve been trying them out on my 10 km runs and I find that they help me fend off my usual drop in energy around the 7th and 8th kilometer mark. I usually take about half the package 15 minutes before my run, and another at the 5 km mark. This will be my strategy next week.Link up with @fitcheerldr & @RunningRachel for #MotivateMe Monday if you need some motivation! Click To Tweet
In order to get through my last week of training, I’m linking up with The Fitness Cheerleader and Running Rachel for #MotivateMe Monday because we all need some motivation to keep going! It might be hard to get all my workouts in because I’m doing some training at work and won’t be able to take advantage of my usual lunch hour run!
Here is what I did last week:
- Tuesday – 20 min easy run & Trek Fit around the track
- Thursday – 20 min easy run & Trek Fit around the track
- Saturday/Sunday – 1o km run
Here is my training plan for this week
- Tuesday – 30 min intervals training
- Wednesday – 30 min easy run
- Thursday – 30 min Trek Fit
- Saturday/Sunday – 5 or 6 km easy run
I’m looking forward to my evening 10 km race! Have you ever ran in an evening race? What was your strategy? What about Honey Stingers Organic chews? Have you tried them? Do you like them? Do you find them necessary?
