Disclaimer: I was given the EC3D Striker Compression Combo s in exchange for reviewing them on the blog. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
As promised on Monday, I’m back a second time this week, this time with a review on compression sleeves and socks.
EC3D is a Canadian Company which manufactures compression wear. They sent me a complimentary Striker Compression Combo to review here on Run Mommy Run. Although they come in pink or blue as well, I decided to stick with black, since they’ll go with all of my running outfits.
The Striker Combo consists of 3 items: Compression Sleeves, Recovery Sleeves and ankle socks.
Performance Compression Sleeves
The performance compression sleeves, are said to increase blood circulation, help prevent muscles spasm or cramping and to support and stabilize muscles.
Recovery Compression Sleeves
The recover compression sleeves will reduce pain caused by periostitis (shin splints) or calf strain, reduce inflammation, accelerate recovery time and help eliminate toxins (lactic acid).
Striker Twist ankle sock
The Striker Twist ankle socks are said to enhance posture and help correct light foot deviations (pronation or supination). With these socks, you should feel an extra support to the arch and improved foot proprioception.
Instructions on how to wear the EC3D Striker Compression Combo
To be honest, when I first saw the socks, which came with a left and a right sock, and the words “twist mode” on them, I was quite confused. Luckily, not only were there instructions on how to use them, I found these useful YouTube videos that helped out this compression rookie!
Here are my thoughts on the E3DC Striker Compression Combo:
I don’t typically run with or use compression technology for recovery so this is all new to me. I really don’t have anything to compare them with other than regular sweat wicking socks. What’s the difference? Well, they are much much tighter, at least when you first put them on. I was surprised that I forgot about them after a short while.
I like that I received ankle socks with separate performance and recovery sleeve. Think about it. If you run a long race, like a half marathon, sweat in your performance sleeves, you take them off, then replace them with a clean pair of recovery sleeves. However, if you are wearing the full compression socks, you’d have to keep the same pair of sweaty socks, and rotate them for recovery.
The E3CD combo fit very snugly on my feet and calves. They never slipped down. Since it’s winter, it will be interesting to test them in the heat of summer. I’m not training for any events at the moment. I haven’t tested them on any long runs however, they are said to not cause blisters or irritations.
This compression combo is good quality, but they don’t come cheap. You can buy your own combo for $69.99. on the EC3D website (not an affiliate link).
During my trial period, I can’t say that I’ve experienced all the benefits the EC3D Striker Compression Combo has to offer. I will, however, be making my Compression Sleeves and socks part of to my IronGirl 2018 training gear.
