I’m not an expert dietitian or nutritionist, but from the running and fitness literature I read, athletes need protein to build muscles. I need to find ways to add more protein to my diet. I do eat meat at lunch and dinner, but sometimes for breakfast I have to get creative.
Inspired by the Lake Shore Runner’s 4 Ingredient Coffee Smoothie, I thought I’d create my own caffeinated concoction, that way I don’t have to have 2 drinks at breakfast. I can enjoy my coffee and protein in one drink.
- 1 cup of cold or room temperature espresso (I made the evening before)
- 1 scoop of protein powder
- 1/2 cup of milk
- Sugar to taste
