Thanksgiving 2014 Turkey Gobbler
Although I did find time in this busy holiday long weekend to go for a run, I didn’t participate in any races. My twin sister Julie, who is also a mom, took the opportunity on this long weekend to run in a fun yet challenging 8 kilometer race called the Turkey Gobbler. So, I figured it would be the perfect race to recap on this Canadian Thanksgiving day and highlight Julie on Run Mommy Run!
The Turkey Gobbler Trail Run was a very challenging course as it was held at on a cross country ski trails, therefore it had lots of hills. The funds raised by this race go towards the ski course’s youth ski racing program.

RMR: When and why did you start running?
Julie: I stated running 3 years ago because my doctor said I was slightly overweight (about 10lbs too heavy) and that scared me. Also, I was your brides maid for your wedding and I wanted to fit in my bridesmaid dress better.
RMR: What is your favorite thing about running?
Julie: I love the way my body looks now and I like to see what I can accomplish, like a 10 Km run.
Julie: Sine I started running three years ago, I’ve lost a total of 20-25 lbs.
Julie: I like the Nike Running app for regular runs but the Adidas Micoach app for training program.
RMR: What did you do to prepare for today’s race?
Julie: Not too much since it was a last minute thing. I ran a 7 km and a 10 km training run the week before.
Julie: That I ran the whole thing and didn’t stop to walk.
Julie: I ran with Nancy Cote, our good friend from highschool. Nancy is also a running mom!
Julie: I really need to work on my hill endurance. I was really slow on the up hills. The recovery from this race has been hard! I need to consume a lots of carbs to regain my energy.
