I’ve been running a day behind on my posts this week. I posted on Tuesday instead of Monday, and I’m posting today instead of my usual Wednesday. Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging! I’ve been suffering with a migraine and a cold, tending to my sick child, as well as a lack of motivation and inspiration. But, I found enough motivation and inspiration to post today! You’ll see why in a bit!
Thursdays are for thinking out loud, so I’m linking up with Running with Spoons to share with you 5 things I’m loving lately. So here goes, lately I love…
This Yoga Pose – Reclining Cow Face Pose
It’s called Reclining Cow Face Pose. Here is a demonstration by Yoga By Candace. I have very tight glutes and hamstrings and this pose definitely helps loosen them up. I must say, I look nothing like this lady when I do the Reclining Cow Face Pose.
This App for iPhone – Evernote
I use the free, basic version of Evernote almost daily. It’s a great app to keep notes such as your To Do’s or grocery list. I use it on the job all the time to keep those “How To’s” readily available. You can even share your notes with your husband, friends, coworkers if you choose to. You can store pictures and articles from the web as well with a feature called Evernote Clipper. You can set reminders and even create checklists such as your packing checklist. The best thing about this app is that it’s “in the cloud” meaning that you can download the application on your PC and retrieve/upload your notes or you can be access them from your iPhone while you are doing your groceries!
This Running Hack – High Knees
Runners know that a great way to get faster to to run hills and hills repeat. But what do you do when you don’t have hills? You could use stairs, but at work, I don’t have access to stairs either, so an alternative is to run with high knees. We used to do this drill for track & field, but you can use this move to simulate hills running. Watch the video below to get a demonstration on how to correctly do this drill.
This Health Food – Hemp Hearts
These little hearts from Manitoba Harvest are full of nutrients. They might be little, but they pack a punch! I’ll be doing a review and a giveaway of Hemp Hearts soon, so keep you eye out for my post!
This Muse – My Twin Sister
When I feel uninspired, all I have to do is talk, Facetime (who uses a phone anymore?) or text to my twin sister Julie and she will quickly turn things around for me! When I was down with a fever and a cold, feeling low on energy, inspiration and motivation, I sent her a few text. She send back some great ideas for me to feel better (get some rest), and motivation (start training for your triathlon even it’s over a year away) and inspiration (lots of great ideas for future blog post). I try to include Julie in my blog as much as possible because we really work as a team! Many of the ideas for my posts come from her! She has a problem, she’s gets me to research the answer! If we have some questions, many other newer runners will be in the same boat! She is after all, my target audience!
So, there you have it! Five things I’m loving lately, from yoga moves to iPhone apps! What about you, do you have things you love lately? Or just random thoughts? Feel free to share, I’d love to hear from you!
